Battlefield Head Of Design, Fawzi Mesmar, Leaves DICE Following Battlefield 2042 Launch

Fawzi Mesmar, Head of Design on the Battlefield franchise, has departed DICE following the release of troubled first-person shooter Battlefield 2042.

Mesmar’s departure was confirmed during an email sent to staff in the week, which was seen by website VGC. According to the email, he had been planning to leave for a while now but waited until Battlefield 2042 had shipped.

Having previously headed up King studio, Mesmar took charge of a design team of over 80 creative directors in his role as head of design, which he has held since 2019. During this time, he not only worked on Battlefield 2042, but also Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Battlefield V.

It was an absolute pleasure to serve on the best design teams in the galaxy. The incredible design work that you do continues to inspire me every day. Thank you for putting some faith in me, I hope I didn’t disappoint.

I have been made an offer I couldn’t refuse at another company that has been kind enough to wait for me until we have shipped [Battlefield 2042]. It was super important to me to be here with the team as we achieve this historical milestone.
