Bethesda admits it is ‘hard to say’ if Skyrim is as big of leap as Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is shaping up to be one of most scrumptious looking games of 2011, but does it offer the same leap forward that its predecessor, Oblivion, did back in 2006? Bethesda has admitted that it’s “hard to say.”

That’s according to game director Todd Howard, who told PC Gamer (via CVG) that it’s a difficult call to make given the fact the gap in technology between Morrowind and Oblivion was far greater than that of Oblivion and Skryim.

"Hard to say… I have a hard time looking at it that way. I think it’s close. I don’t know that I would say it’s as large a leap, just because the technology gap between Morrowind and Oblivion was greater,” Howard commented.

"[On the mechanics side] I’d say it’s about the same," he continued. "The number of gameplay changes and things like that are probably on the same level."

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
