In case there was any lingering doubt, it looks as if Ubisoft’s Beyond Good and Evil 2 is indeed coming to PS4.
Initially reported as a possible Nintendo Switch timed exclusive by journalist Laura Kate Dale – a reputable figure in the industry who’s leaked a number of Switch-related announcements including console specs and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle – it seems as though the game’s website itself has confirmed the intended platforms for the far-off prequel.
Upon registering for Beyond Good and Evil’s ‘Space Monkey Program’ beta on its website it allows you to pick a preferred platform to hear news about and it’s there where you can choose either ‘PC’, ‘PS4’, or ‘Xbox One’, lending credence to the idea that, at the moment, they’re the only systems nailed on for the game’s release.
Earlier confirmed to not be making an appearance at Ubisoft’s press conference at E3, a visibly emotional Michel Ancel, the game’s creator, took to the stage to share a beautifully-realized cinematic trailer for the game before thanking fans of the series who’ve remained vocal since the original announcement of a Beyond Good and Evil sequel back in 2008.
It was in that E3 cinematic trailer, too, where there were snippets of prototype gameplay that looked perhaps a little too advanced for Nintendo Switch unless it were to be scaled back a touch.
For those curious, Beyond Good and Evil 2’s release date is a long way off at the minute if that prototype gameplay is anything to go by and we’d speculate either a late 2018 release or perhaps even early 2019.
As ever, stay tuned to PSU all through E3 week for the latest and greatest news in PlayStation.
