BioShock 2’s Minerva’s Den DLC dated

2K has super-glued a U.S. release date to BioShock 2’s Minerva’s Den DLC, confirming the narrative-heavy experience will hit PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace on August 31.

With the self-contained Minerva’s Den, gamers hop in to the shoes of an all-new protagonist who teams up with Brigid Tenenbaum as the pair attempts to overthrow a dictator’s grip on a key district in Rapture. PSN owners will have to fork out $9.99 USD for the DLC.

Players will have access to fresh weaponry and an all-new Plasmid to wield against foes, among which includes a never-before-seen variation of the infamous lumbering Big Daddy. As you explore the new district of Rapture Central Computing, you’ll also come up against enhanced Security Bots that are capable of unleashing rockets and lightning bolts upon intruders.

As expected you’ll need to own a copy of BioShock 2 in order to play Minerva’s Den, though you won’t need to have completed the main game in order to have a crack at the DLC.
