Bioware Reveals A Teaser For Its Upcoming Mass Effect Game To Celebrate N7 Day

As Mass Effect fans already know, today, November 7, is a celebratory day for the Mass Effect franchise dubbed N7 Day, and those same fans also know we’ve not had any update or details on the next Mass Effect in a long time.

Well, today it’s not only N7 Day, but Bioware decided to get every fan of the franchise something they actually wanted as a gift, an update, or more specifically, a teaser, for Mass Effect 4.

The teaser trailer is only 34 seconds long, and is a combination of three shorter teasers that were released at different times leading up to the full trailer. The three teasers were titled Epsilon, Defiance and Nebula.

Put together, the teasers show a character walking through a corridor, adorned in classic Mass Effect fashion. They turn back, draw their weapon, and walk out a door.

You can check out the teaser for yourself, below.

What’s most impressive about all this however is even though a warning message clarifies that this is not what the game will entirely look like, it does state that it “represents game in development.”

Which implies that what we’re seeing is actually an in-engine clip. It’s still a work in progress, yes, but it’s an exciting clip if this is what it looks like before it’s even finished.

As to when we’ll be seeing more than just a teaser trailer though, that still feels far off, and hopefully whatever is at the end of the tunnel is worth the wait.

Bioware was once known as the foremost western-RPG studio, and some of their older titles still remain in the upper tiers of any “best RPGs of all time” list.

But the Bioware of today is not the same one that created those classics, and it’s long been silent after faltering with Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It would be quite the redemption arc if Bioware was able to pull it off, and bring back both its legendary franchises with entries worthy to carry the name.

“Whether it’s one of the many who have been here since the original game’s launch or those recently joining us at BioWare, we are all incredibly lucky to be envisioning this future.” said Mass Effect franchise director and executive producer Mike Gamble in an N7 blog post.

“That process is equal parts rewarding and challenging. We’ve asked ourselves many of the same questions you’ve asked us over the years! What happened to everyone you know and love in the games? Who really died? Who had kids with whom? What does a baby volus sound like?

What about all the galaxies? The endings! What the heck is going on with our asari scientist-turned-Shadowbroker? What about S— nevermind…you get the idea. And of course, to those questions, there are answers, but you’ll have to wait to hear them.

…But for real… thank you. Thank you for everything, and allowing us to do what we do. We approach the future of this universe with gratitude and deep respect. Respect for you—the community.

Respect for the love and dedication you’ve given to us. Respect for the history and the stories you’ve created, and the characters you’ve fallen in love with. And, respect for the future, and the opportunity to do something big—something amazing—for you.

Until next time…and Happy N7 Day!”
