Blacklight: Retribution on PS4 update includes new mode and maps

Zombie Studios released a patch for the PlayStation 4 Blacklight: Retribution beta with a host of new content earlier today.

A new Onslaught game mode is Blacklight’s version of a four-player Horde Mode. Players will face waves of enemies and it “will force you to adapt as the threat changes,” according the PS Blog.

Two new multiplayer maps have been included in the update – Decay and Metro. Decay is described as a “slum fortress set deep in the worst and most rundown area of the city” and appears to feature threats from above, below, and the shadows. Sounds like a camper’s heaven.

Metro is an abandoned subway station featuring narrow corridors. It sounds very similar to the Battlefield 3 map with the same name.

For the anti-social gamers who don’t like random players, you now have private matches. It seems like the perfect idea when gathering your friends for Onslaught.

To those who have been playing since launch, Zombie has been working on matchmaking improvements and game optimizations. The game should be much improved behind the scenes with better host migration and selection, improved frame rates, faster loads, and a smoother experience.

Remember to keep in touch with @ZombieStudios on Twitter, Facebook, or the official Blacklight: Retribution PS4 website if you are playing to let them know what you think and any issues you run into with the game. They’re paying attention.

We’ll have a full breakdown of the new patch soon. In the meantime, be sure to catch up with Zombie in our recent interview feature.
