Bloodborne Remake Was Reportedly Pitched by Bluepoint Games, But The Proposal Was Blocked By FromSoftware

Bluepoint Games had pitched a Bloodborne remake early last year but the project was shot down by FromSoftware, the studio responsible for developing the original game, according to a report on Bloomberg.

While a Bloodborne remake has been long-requested among fans, Shuhei Yoshida, former indie boss at Sony Interactive Entertainment, told the Kinda Funny Games podcast in January last year that there’s a reason the company hasn’t done anything with the IP.

According to Yoshida-san, the main reason is due to the fact creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is still interested in the IP, but as he’s so busy he can’t find the time to commit to anything. Here’s what he had to say:

Miyazaki-san really really loved Bloodborne, what he created. So I think he is interested but he’s so successful and so busy so he can not do it himself and he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it. So that’s my theory and the PlayStation team respects his wish.

Bluepoint Games was shuttered by Sony earlier this year, a decision which has been met by major criticism from fans given the pedigree behind the development team. The studio was responsible for a number of critically acclaimed remakes and remasters, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Shadow of the Colossus, and Demon’s Souls.
