After a good long while in development, we now know the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night PS4 release date – and it isn’t very far away at all.

Set to release for PS4 on June 18, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is an action adventure platformer developed by Koji Igarashi – the longtime former series producer on Konami’s Castlevania franchise.
Widely viewed as a spiritual successor of sorts to the Castlevania series 2D scrolling exploits, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night began life on Kickstarter back in 2015 whereupon it raised over $5.5 million in funding, making it the most funded videogame on Kickstarter until it was surpassed by Shenmue 3 a little while later.
Using a 2.5D visual style where 3D backgrounds and character models are fixed to a two-dimensional plane, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night looks set to do justice to the Castlevania games of old, all the while providing a shiny, current-gen sheen to the proceedings.
Story-wise, the plot of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night looks like one that could have been plucked from Castlevania lore to say the least. As Miriam, an orphan taken in by guild of mysterious alchemists, she finds herself put into a decade long coma as her captors infuse numerous arcane crystals into her body. Now awoken to prevent an onslaught of demons, Miriam must use her newfound powers while maintaining her humanity to the best of her ability.
With four years of development in the bank and a full release just over a month away, publisher 505 Games has compiled a handy old and new trailer below which showcases the leaps and bounds that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has come on with – you can catch it below.
