Gearbox Software has announced that its Vault Insider Program (VIP), which gave players loot and cosmetic upgrades in its Borderlands games for free in return for special code entries will be closing down on May 18, 2020. So if you’ve any Vault Insider points lurking around, now would be a good time to use them.
As a means of saying thank you (and also ‘sorry’, I guess) Gearbox have provided a special SHiFT code which gives players a whopping TEN Golden Keys which can be used to obtain all manner of high-end gear.
You can catch the full press release (and that juicy SHiFT code) below:
VAULT INSIDER PROGRAM ENDS MAY 18, 2020POSTED: FEB 18 2020
In the lead-up to the launch of Borderlands 3, the Vault Insider Program brought you three seasons’ worth of Borderlands rewards and in-game loot. Now that Borderlands 3 has launched and is being enjoyed by millions of players like you, it’ll soon be time to say goodbye to the Vault Insider Program. There’s plenty more action-packed mayhem ahead as Gearbox Software continues to develop even more content for the game, including free events like Broken Hearts Day and Rare Chest Riches, endgame challenges like Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, and paid campaign add-ons like Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jackpot.
The Vault Insider Program will be discontinued as of 11:59pm PDT on May 18, 2020. All VIP profiles will be disabled and unredeemed VIP points will be forfeited. You can still earn and spend VIP points until then, and even after the VIP shutoff, all your rewards will still be associated with your linked SHiFT account. Be sure to spend your VIP points before May 18, 2020 so you don’t lose them!
Bringing you the Vault Insider Program has been a blast, and we hope you’ve enjoyed spinning The Weaponizer for in-game loot, amassing points, and unlocking a multitude of rewards for your collection. To everyone who participated in the Vault Insider Program, thank you for your support in helping us make so much Borderlands mayhem. As a token of our gratitude, we’d also like to offer this time-limited SHiFT code for 10 Golden Keys:
You can redeem this SHiFT code here on Borderlands.com, on the Gearbox SHiFT site, or via the in-game Social menu in Borderlands 3 before this SHiFT code expires on March 3, 2020 at 11:59pm PT. Borderlands 3 and SHiFT account required to redeem. Only one (1) code may be redeemed per SHiFT account.
Enjoy the loot, and thanks again to everyone who took part in the Vault Insider Program!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
When is the Vault Insider Program (also called VIP) ending?
The Vault Insider Program will end at 11:59pm PDT on May 18, 2020.
Can I sign-up for the Vault Insider Program as a new member? Can I still earn and redeem points before the program ends?
Yes, you can still create VIP profiles, earn VIP points, and use them to redeem VIP items before the program ends on May 18, 2020.
Why is the Vault Insider Program being discontinued?
The Vault Insider Program focused on rewarding you for activities you could do pre-launch, like watching trailers and engaging with social content. Now that we’re well past launch, we want those kinds of rewards to be available to as many players and fans as possible, and ensure you’re rewarded simply for playing the game itself.
What happens after the Vault Insider Program ends? Can I still keep the rewards I redeemed through the Vault Insider Program?
When the Vault Insider Program ends, all VIP profiles will be disabled and unredeemed VIP points will be forfeited. You will still keep any in-game items you’ve already redeemed via the Vault Insider Program linked to your SHiFT account, but you will not be able to acquire these items with VIP points once the Vault Insider Program is shut down.
Will any more rewards be added to the Vault Insider Program before it ends? Will I be able to earn these rewards through other means?
There will not be any new rewards added to the Vault Insider Program before it shuts down on May 18, 2020. Currently, we have nothing to announce regarding alternate methods for receiving VIP reward items in the future.
