In Summer 2017, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot teased a new Splinter Cell game. He revealed that the company has plenty of ideas floating about for new installment, but didn’t go into any further detail.

There's been a whole host of rumors about a Splinter Cell game on PS4, including news from an insider who claims that he knew someone working on the set next to Sam Fisher actor, Michael Ironside.

Since then, Ubisoft have been tight-lipped as the French publisher continues to work on some of its other flagship franchises, including The Division, Tom Clancy's Recon and Assassin's Creed.

The last game in the series was Splinter Cell Blacklist in 2013. Considering review scores rated it highly, scoring an average of 82% on Metacritic, it's almost certain that a new Splinter game will be coming soon. The big question is: will it be a PS4 Splinter Cell game, or PS5?
