Brink has sold 2.5 million

Splash Damage has confirmed that Brink has sold over 2.5 million units globally following its launch in May 2011.

The news spilled from Splash Damage boss Paul Wedgewood during a chinwag with Gamasutra, where he revealed the game has generated roughly $120-140 million in revenue.

"With Splash Damage, we finished Brink, and it’s estimated to have sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide, which at retail would mean that it’s generated around $120-140 million in revenue," said Wedgewood.

"But of course, as an independent video game developer, we don’t earn that kind of revenue, as we’re not the publisher of the title… but we could see there was the potential to serve our fans content directly, and while we don’t want to take anything away from what Splash Damage does, we wanted a vehicle that we can dedicate exclusively to that pursuit,” he added.

Released on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360, Brink takes the form of a multiplayer-centric shooter which sees two factions – Resistance and Security – slugging it out in a floating metropolis named The Ark. Four character classes are available, namely Soldiers, Medic, Engineer and Operative.
