Bungie has revealed in a new community update that it’s planning a wealth of Destiny-related content as it knuckles down with its unvaulting plans for Destiny 2, including a tease that simply says “we’re back” for a mysterious initiative.
First up, the Destiny 2 celebration is based around the community itself, who were instrumental in bringing back the shared-world shooter after Bungie initially announced plans to end development of future content. The studio didn’t reveal much, about said it “provides new updates for you all to enjoy. More details to come!”
“Our epic journey started over a decade ago, and the whole experience needs to be served to you all where you play today. Expect more information when we come back to you all early next year,” Bungie said of Destiny Legacy. Finally, it simply said “we’re back” under the heading ‘Redacted [TBD].
We’re not going to forget the mistakes of the past, but it’s time to learn from them and unify as one Bungie community. For us, the majority of our Bungie team is legacy Destiny, and we will all tell you that nothing can help bridge us into future more than for Marathon to rapidly evolve and become sustainable. As we head into our December and March updates for Marathon, it’s a formative period for all of us here at Bungie that will help determine the shape of our future, so please encourage each other and know that your support gives our team the energy to finish the fight.
In regards to invaulting Destiny 2 content, Bungie confirmed that campaigns including Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris, and Warming will be restored, as well as all Strikes associated with them. In addition, the campaigns will also include the Raid and Raid Lairs, while the Menagerie Activity with reprised rewards is also part of the package.
However, Bungie noted that the whole process will take time. Pre-production is happening now, with full production set to kick off in February 2027 and is expected to last 12 months. So, it won’t be complete until 2028.
