Bungie debuted a fresh batch of Marathon gameplay during Sony’s February 2026 State of Play broadcast this evening, offering a more detailed looked at the shooter ahead of its release on PS5 next month.
Check it out below.
Bungie announced back in January that Marathon is receiving a limited edition PS5 DualSense controller and accompanying Pulse Elite Wireless Headset, which will launch alongside the game on March 5, 2026. In addition, the former Halo developer also confirmed plans for a Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition of Marathon, so if you feel like splashing out on the game, you’ll have the chance to do so.
Marathon thrusts players into a dark sci-fi world on a derelict colony known as Tau Ceti: IV, which is rife with Runners, unpredictable environments, and hostile UESC security forces. You’ll scavenge these zones for valuable resources solo or with a crew, while engaging in adrenaline-pumping PvP combat; advance your seasonal by exfiltration the battleground, earn cosmetics, and put together stronger builds using your collected loot.
Players will have the choice of choosing from six equippable Runner shells in Marathon, each one offering a distinct play style to work with, such as Destroyer, Recon, and Thief. Furthermore, you’ll gain access to moddable weapons, body implants, and core system upgrades to further customise your build. Marathon offers numerous locations to battle across, including deserted research facilities, rugged landscapes, and security outposts, with death never too far off as you face unique enemies, dynamic events, and environmental hazards.
