The 2016 instalment in the Call of Duty franchise will reportedly take place in the far future and take the series into full-blown science-fiction territory.
That’s according to well-known industry insider, Shinobi602, who posted on NeoGAF that the new game, which is currently in development at Infinity Ward, will feature space combat. Yes, space combat, a feature which has been rumored for years now.
Apparently, the emphasis on futuristic combat is so pronounced that it makes Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 look like it’s set in the stone age.
Of course, this should be treated at as a rumor for the time being, although Shinobi has proven his worth in the past.
Call of Duty is on a three-year development cycle between Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch. Infinity Ward is best known for producing the original World War II-based titles as well as the hugely successful Modern Warfare outings.
