Call of Duty 4 has sold nearly 14 million, says Activision

Activision Blizzard revealed during the company’s latest quarterly earnings call yesterday that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has shifted close to 14 million units globally since its launch in November 2007.

According to company president and CEO Mike Griffith, the upcoming sequel, Modern Warfare 2, has already drummed up more pre-orders than any other Activision title to date. Elsewhere, Griffith also reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the CoD franchise via map packs and various other downloadable content.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in November 2009. Stay tuned for more coverage on the game here at PSU in the coming months.
