Voice actor James Burns has fueled more speculation that a Call of Duty Black Ops 4 release is on the cards for 2018.
Burns, who portrays Frank Woods in the Black Ops franchise, told fans on Twitter that he’ll reveal all he knows on the rumors surrounding a fourth instalment in the first-person shooter series.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 could be on the cards
“Relax Black Ops fans….I will tell you what I know very soon,” said Burns. When quizzed if he was referring to yesterday’s story regarding a potential Black Ops 4 release, he replied simply, “it is.”
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has not been officially confirmed by Activision. However, next year’s entry in the series is being developed by Treyarch, who of course have worked on the Black Ops games since 2010.
The previous Black Ops game took the series into a futuristic setting, although it’s unknown if the rumored fourth entry will do the same. If it does, then it’ll tie in with previous reports that Call of Duty 2018 will return to a more modern setting following this year’s Call of Duty WW2.
Of course, that’s not to say that a potential new Black Ops game couldn’t go back in time to revisit its origins. For now though, we can only speculate as to what direction Treyarch may take the series.
Call of Duty WW2 meanwhile is due out on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on November 3, 2017.
