Christopher Dring has revealed in a post on X that the UK retail launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 didn’t make as much of an impact as Battlefield 6, while the game’s launch sales were down a staggering 61% over its predecessor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
In regards to Battlefield 6 having a more successful launch, this is in relation to physical sales only; it’s unknown how both games measure up in terms of digital performance. Still, the drop in sales compared to Black Ops 6 is pretty shocking to see, particularly given the amount of hype that Black Ops 7 has been riding these past few months.

As previously reported, the clash between the two first-person shooter heavyweights has been quite a hot topic in recent months. Mike Ybarra, the former president of Blizzard, stated he believes EA’s shooter will ‘boot stomp‘ the latest Call of Duty effort, although Activision reportedly remains bullish in the face of its lead rival, feeling that its own franchise is unable to fail.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was released for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on November 14, 2025.
