Yale Miller, Senior Director of Production at Treyarch, has admitted during an interview with CharlineIntle that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer is concerned about franchise fatigue ahead of the game’s release in November 2025
For those out of the loop, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is launching just one year after the release of its predecessor, which is extremely rare for the series. Traditionally, the franchise rotates between Black Ops and Modern Warfare on an annual basis, but this time the team decided to go straight in with another sequel. The only other time happened is with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023).
When asked by CharlieIntel if Treyarch is concerned about the titles being viewed as being too similar, Miller replied, I think the honest answer is yes. I worry about that.”

Obviously, there was a plan with the two MW games and then this. We’ll see what the franchise does in the future. We’re excited about the opportunities it gave us, but we’d all be dead lying if we said we weren’t worried about that. We’re absolutely going to bring it from a content perspective in our live seasons. How can we have new gameplay experiences? More content, more maps, weeklies, with functional stuff like deeper weapon prestige experiences.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 is slated for release on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on November 14, 2025.
