Call of Duty is officially getting the movie treatment more than 20 years after the series debuted, with Activision and Paramount having teamed up to produce a live-action picture based on the multi-million selling first-person franchise.
The deal is initially for one Call of Duty film, but “encompasses the potential” for Paramount to expand further across film and TV projects. David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Paramount, commented:
As a lifelong fan of Call of Duty this is truly a dream come true. From the first Allied campaigns in the original ‘Call of Duty,’ through ‘Modern Warfare’ and ‘Black Ops,’ I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love. Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.

Activision boss Rob Kostich also issued his own statement on the deal:

This year’s instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is slated to arrive on November 14, 2025, for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
