Call of Juarez: The Cartel demo in the pipeline?

Techland has revealed that it’s considering the possibility of releasing a demo for gun-slinging sequel, Call of Juarez: The Cartel.

For those unaware, The Cartel marks the first entry in the Wild West-based franchise to unfold in a contemporary setting, with past games having taken place in the 1800s.

"We are thinking about [a demo], so you can safely say you can expect it, then,” revealed brand manager Blazej Krakowiak, during a chinwag with ScrawlFX.

Elsewhere, it seems the offer of three-player co-op wasn’t an arbitrary decision on Techland’s part, with Krakowiak explaining that its inclusion boiled down to the "type of story" being told.

"Why always 2 or 4? We had this idea for this story for three characters, and since the story is so important, we decided ‘yeah, we can do a co-op for three, why not?’," explained Krakowiak. "There is no good reason to keep it at four or two. It just works for the story that we’re telling."

"We could’ve done four or two; we are doing the co-op multiplayer for our other game, Dead Island, so that’s proof that we could do it, we just wanted something different here in Call of Juarez."

Despite this, Krakowiak was quick to observe, "There are gameplay features that actually wouldn’t make much sense in local co-op.”

Call of Juarez: The Cartel is due for release this summer.
