Capcom’s expressed its confidence in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City’s performance at U.K. retail ahead of the game’s March 23 release.
Speaking with MCV, product manager Karl Reader observed that pre-orders for the tactical horror shooter are already looking strong, and believes the game will perform well despite the current climate.
Furthermore, Reader said that Operation Raccoon City will be bolstered by “extensive” post-launch support.
"Our pre-order figures have given us a huge amount of confidence that the title will perform well despite the current conditions at UK retail," he said.
"Consumers are buying brands they can trust. The Resident Evil brand is synonymous with high production values and quality gaming experiences. We have an extensive DLC plan to further that longevity.”
"We know our Resident Evil audience very well; the real challenge is to captivate a wider audience with a new take on team-based action horror. We couldn’t be in a stronger position to achieve just that."
It’s not just Operation Raccoon City that is impressing, either – Resident Evil 6 is already attracting significant pre-orders despite the fact it’s not out until November 20.
"Pre-orders are very strong too, given that we’ve yet to announce any pre-order offerings or partners," said Reader.
