Capcom has had a strong 2023 with Resident Evil 4 Remake, Street Fighter 6 and Exoprimal all performing well in terms of sales and critical reception.
That’s without even mentioning other projects outside games, like the Resident Evil: Death Island film that officially launched worldwide just days ago.
However Capcom might not be done for the year, as it spoke of a currently unannounced game set to arrive before the end of its current fiscal year (ending March 31, 2024) in its recent quarterly earnings call that it expects will sell “millions.”
There’s nothing to say that this couldn’t be another Resident Evil title that’s been kept under wraps, or a new IP the publisher has high hopes for, but out of Capcom’s biggest franchises, the one due for a new mainline entry is Monster Hunter.
Monster Hunter is in large part responsible for Capcom’s massive resurgence in the past decade, and it’s the kind of franchise where Capcom could easily predict it would sell very well.
So even without any confirmation as to what this unannounced game is, Monster Hunter fits the bill, and it remains to be seen if this will be Capcom’s big fall launch for 2023, or if it’ll kick off its 2024 year.
