Capcom teases Street Fighter 25th anniversary plans

Capcom’s venerable Street Fighter series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and the company has said it has “big plans for 2012” to mark the occasion.

Writing on its official blog, Capcom teased, "Can you believe Ryu has been throwing fireballs and scarring chests for a quarter century?"

"For 25 years Street Fighter’s iconic hero has wandered the globe in search of the perfect battle, and to commemorate his quest – not to mention the millions of fans who’ve followed him every step of the way – we’re preparing some big plans for 2012."

Street Fighter turns 25 on August 30, and Capcom has said that details of its planned “international celebration” for the event will drop later down the line.

However, it will begin rolling out a special 25th anniversary logo for all Street Fighter-related products as early as March with the release of crossover brawler Street Fighter x Tekken.
