Capcom’s head of R&D Keiji Inafune has let slip that he’s set his sights on retiring as early as possible from his position with the company, claiming he dislikes his job.
Chatting with the folks at Excite Japan, Inafune, who is the brains behind games such as Mega Man and Dead Rising, had the following to say when the interviewer suggested he must enjoy his job with Capcom: "It’s the opposite. I hate it! I want to retire early and take it easy."
Understandably, Inafune revealed that he’s under considerable stress overseeing the Japanese giant’s meaty games line-up, though did reveal that if he wanted to, he’d be able to do just a bit of work on a single title and get paid by the bucket load.
However, this particular worth ethic isn’t Inafune’s cup of tea. "There are loads of creators like that," he commented. "But I’m not like that. If things are difficult while they are doing it, they can become a leader and a creator."
Inafune has also been quite outspoken on his views on the Japanese games industry as of late, suggesting his native country is lagging some five years behind the West.
