SEGA has announced that Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is teaming up with Like A Dragon (aka Yakuza) for its latest content drop, with none other than Goro Majima – sorry, that’s Captain Majima, representing his stint in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – arriving on April 29, 2026.
Captain Majima will arrive as a playable character in the Blue Blur’s latest racing title, and will be joined by the Goromaru vehicle (this is Majima’s pirate ship from the Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, for those who didn’t know) as well as special emotes and sounds. Beyond that, SEGA is hosting an in-game Captain Majima Festival from April 30 — May 3, 2026, and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is getting a Free Weekend from April 30 — May 4. Plus, the full game is on sale now for 40% off the usual asking price.
Majima is a long-running character in the Yakuza series and something of a rival/friend to protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. He’s appeared in every mainline entry to date, although it wasn’t until Yakuza 0 that he was made a fully playable character with his own narrative to follow. Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii saw Majima suffering from amnesia and taking on a new identity as a pirate captain, commanding his own ship and crew in search of treasures while fighting off rival gangs.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds launched for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in September 2025.
