Christopher Judge, the actor who portrays Kratos in God of War and God of War Ragnarok, has offered praise to the casting of Ryan Hurst as the iconic character in Amazon’s God of War series, describing it as “a magnificent choice.”
Hurst, who played Thor, God of Thunder in Ragnarok, was announced to be playing the part of Kratos last week, and Judge has made it clear he’s fully behind the choice. Here’s what the actor had to say (via ScreenRant):
All I wanted for whoever was cast as Kratos was that they love, cherish, and respect Kratos as much as we all do. And with Ryan Hurst, they have done that. It’s a magnificent choice, not only a great actor, but a great person and a gamer who actually played ‘God of War’ since it’s inception.
The God of War series is now in pre-production in Vancouver, Canada, and has secured a two-season order ahead of filming. Much like 2018’s God of War, the plot will follow Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they journey to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ wife on the highest peak of the realms. Ronald D. Moore will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Sony celebrated the 20th anniversary of God of War last year, with the original game having launched for the PS2 back in March 2005.
