Abyssal Arts have announced that the first chapter of its real-time tactical RPG City of the Shroud will be heading to PS4 next year.
While no firm release date is set for consoles, all chapters are likely to be released in 2019. It will appear on PC and Mac this Summer.
City of the Shroud fuses traditional RPG mechanics with those of fighting games. Using the game's Combo Wheel, chain powerful abilities together in explosive, real-time combos. It seeks to balance the thoughtfulness of a strategy game with the split-second reactions of a fighter to execute foes in fast-paced battles.

Abyssal describes City of the Shroud as a ‘tale crafted by collaboration between players and writers’. Some story details were also given, as well as an explination of the game’s PVP.
Tread carefully in a land teetering on the edge of civil war. Pledge allegiance to one of Iskendrun's five factions in a fight for political control where every player's choices impact the direction successive chapters of the story take.
All five groups, regardless of their internal squabbles, are intent on defending their home. Combat moves in real time and borrows from classic fighting games for fast-paced action. A directional combo wheel appears for each attack, and butt-kickings can be delivered by inputting deadly ability chains.Online one-on-one PVP will give players a chance to test out their best combos on one another. Balancing split-second decision-making and waiting for the perfect moment to strike will make the difference between victory and defeat.
