Cliff Bleszinski Wants To See Gears Of War Come To PS5

Cliff Bleszinski, the chief designer behind the Gears of War franchise, has said he wants to see the action franchise come to PS5 now that Microsoft has started releasing some of its Xbox titles to rival formats.

Gears of War has more chance than ever now coming to PlayStation, seeing as how Microsoft is bringing a number of its Xbox-exclusive titles to Sony and Nintendo formats. However, while the third-person shooter franchise hasn’t been officially announced for PS5, Bleszinski is more than happy to see it make the jump.

Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! I think that’s what Phil Spencer’s going for. He’s going for the Netflix model. That started with Xbox Game Pass and then, like Netflix, they realized they need to be on every device. People have been joking about Gears of War coming to PlayStation for well over like a decade and, you know, I think ‘the more, the merrier.’ If people own a PS5 and get to play and experience the next-gen Gears games, that means more Gears of War tattoos.

Gears of War launched for Xbox 360 back in November 2006, and spawned a hugely successful franchise that continues to this day. Much like Halo, Gears of War is a flagship Xbox franchise, and back in the day it was often seen as the competitor to PS3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man, a series that sadly hasn’t enjoyed the same longevity.
