Cory Barlog, Head of Creative at Sony Santa Monica Studio, has revealed that a new God of War game featuring Kratos as the main character is planned to launch after God of War Laufey and will connect directly to that game’s story.
The news dropped during the San Diego Comic-Con panel for God of War Laufey, where it was also confirmed that the game would be launching on February 16, 2027. As for the next God of War game, Barlog didn’t give any indication of when we’ll be seeing it, and at this stage it isn’t known what type of setting the game will have.
Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next. Phranque has been around since the beginning. It’s interesting to see how to build this world out. Everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing.
Sony is also working on a complete remake of the original God of War trilogy, which will feature TC Carson reprising his role as the legendary Spartan warrior.
