Creative Assembly Confirms Total War Series Can Come To PlayStation With New Warcore Engine

Creative Assembly has announced during its 25th anniversary showcase that the Total War games are able to come to PlayStation and Xbox formats, following the unveiling of the next evolution of the series’ proprietary technology — the Warcore Engine.

According to the studio, this new game engine is “the most advanced technological foundation is the franchise’s history,” equipping its development team “with a suite of tools that allows for gameplay to be more immersive, dynamic and responsive than ever before.”

“In a franchise first, it also enables future games to be released on PlayStation and Xbox, welcoming a new generation of commanders to the scale, immersion, and tactical mastery that defines Total War,” a spokesperson added for the company.

Creative Assembly was previously working on a project known as Hyenas, which was reportedly ‘Sega’s biggest budget game,’ although the game was cancelled in 2023. In November of that year, it was suggested by SEGA that Creative Assembly will return to offline real-time strategy games for the foreseeable future.
