Criterion job ad hints at PlayStation Vita title

Eagle-eyed blogger Superannuation has spotted a job listing at Criterion Games that indicates the developer is bringing its latest project to PlayStation Vita.

According to the listing, the Burnout studio is on the hunt for a Software Engineer for “optimising and tuning the game resource system for the PS VITA”, plus “interfacing the game engine with several parts of the VITA OS.”

From the sound of things cross-platform play is also on the cards, at least according to the following description: “Implementing interoperation between PS3 and the VITA.”

Criterion is believed to be working on a new entry in the Need for Speed franchise. Its latest project was downloadable racer Burnout Crash! for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in 2011.
