Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been named Anime of the Year by popular vote as part of the Crunchyroll Awards fending off stiff competition from Demon and Attack on Titan.
In addition to picking up Anime of the Year, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners also picked up Best VA Performance during an awards show in Tokyo, Japan over the weekend.
“It’s a great honor! We’d like to thank everyone for their support, votes, and for watching our anime,” said the anime’s social media account.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners launched for Netflix in September 2022 and contributed partly to an increase in sales of CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.
Despite its success, Satoru Honma, CDPR Japan’s manager, made it clear in an interview last year that the anime is a standalone offering, and as such won’t be receiving a second season.
Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR revealed last year that it is officially working on a follow-up to the game. The studio isn’t done with the first game yet, though, as it’s prepping the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty this year.
