Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Has Now Entered Preproduction

CD Projekt RED has announced that preproduction has kicked off on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, which was previously known as Project Orion.

The studio confirmed the news in a statement accompanying its Q1 2025 financial report, where it revealed that preproduction on Cyberpunk 2, as it is now referring to the game as, kicked off several weeks ago.

Several weeks ago the CD Projekt Red team responsible for the next big game set in the Cyberpunk universe completed the project’s conceptual phase. As a result, Cyberpunk 2 – previously known under the codename Project Orion – has progressed to preproduction.
