The upcoming Dark Souls 3 will be a ‘turning point’ for the notoriously brutal action-RPG series, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has said.
“Dark Souls is my life’s work. Everything I came up with for Dark Souls 3 is based on my personal preferences,” said Miyazaki-san, during a chinwag with GameSpot.
“However, Dark Souls 3 is also actually the turning point for the franchise,” he added.
Elsewhere, the game designer also expressed interest in bringing the Souls arc to other genres outside of the fantasy realm, and revealed he’s got plans for a number of new projects in the pipeline.
Bandai Namco Games announced earlier this year that the Dark Souls series has moved over eight million copies globally. The upcoming third entry will not, contrary to earlier reports, be the final instalment in the series.
