What started out as a small, innocuous claim by Dave Perry is now turning into quite the soap opera. Unsatisfied with leaking information on the PSP 2, Perry is now seeking to challenge Sony to step up to the plate publicly deny that the handheld will not support UMD.
A bold move on Perry’s part to say the least, though it goes without saying that we’d all like to know what the truth is behind the rumors and concerns about the PSP 2 not utilizing the lagging format.
Needless to say, this feature would be crucial for the platform as backwards compatibility is one of the key aspects that make Nintendo’s DS handheld such a strong seller.
Said Perry: "John Koller is publicly questioning my post about PSP 2. So I confirmed with Top PSP 2 developers. John, state that PSP 2 WILL have UMD."
Hopefully Sony or Koller decide to answer the call soon, as we’re just as curious as the rest of you. Stay tuned.
