David Reeves, chief operating officer of Capcom Europe, has suggested that Sony would be wise to release a successor to the PSP if the platform holder is serious about competing in the handheld console market.
When asked by GI.biz as to whether or not he thought the release of PSP2 would prove a good move, the former Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) head commented, “I’d like to the think it would be for the publishers and developers and consumers.”
“Sony tried to make the transition with PSPgo, I think that changed some consumers attitudes, but they need to come back with something on PSP pretty quickly to stay in the game because Nintendo are shit hot at getting these things right. And they always get these things right.”
Current Sony Europe boss Andrew House previously brushed off rumors that the firm is planning to release a PSP2, stating that the company intends to “keep our focus on building great content for the great devices we have out now."
