Deep Silver’s announced that Dead Island has shipped over one million units in the U.S. within the game’s “first few days of availability.”
The company also trumpeted the zombie actioner’s success at topping the charts "in many global markets including the UK and France as well as on Steam", before adding it will have "sold two million units globally to retailers by the end of this week".
Deep Silver’s COO, Geoff Mulligan, commented, "We’re thrilled at the retail reception Dead Island has achieved in its first few days.”
"The critical ‘first week’ of game sales has been an enormous sales success for Deep Silver. We’re working quickly with our distribution partner in North America, Square Enix, to restock shelves as quickly as we can."
Dead Island was released in stores across the U.S. on September 6, while a PAL launch followed on September 9.
