Capcom has confirmed it has outsourced development of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2.
For starters, the current-generation version of the original Dead Rising is being handled by QLOC; a polish studio previously responsible for bring DmC: Devil May Cry to the PS4 and Xbox One.
Mercenary Technologies is working on the remasters of Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, having cut their teeth on God of War 3 Remastered and the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Capcom Vancouver was responsible for developing Dead Rising 3 and is currently working on the sequel for PC and Xbox One. The game is expected to hit PS4 at some point down the line, as it’s not a permanent exclusive to Microsoft’s console.
Dead Rising PS4 coming this year, Dead Rising 4 to follow?
Dead Rising was originally released on the Xbox 360 back in August 2006, and was later ported to the Wii in the shape of Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Dead Rising 2 launched in 2010 and was followed by Case West and Off the Record, with Dead Rising 3 arriving in 2013 as an Xbox One launch title.
In addition to the videogame franchise, Dead Rising also make the transition to the silver-screen in the shape of Dead Rising: Watchtower and the upcoming sequel, Dead Rising: Endgame.
Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 will arrive on PS4 and Xbox One later this year, although an exact release date has yet to be confirmed. Capcom has promised it will share more details soon, however.
