Remember the original Dead Space’s 3D map? Well, the upcoming Dead Space Remake will replace that with a 2D version, as the 3D version was a little confusing for players.
Speaking with Inverse, EA Motive Studio Realization Director Joel MacMillan confirmed that the 2D map is designed to improve the clarity and readability of the original map.
Looking back at it, there was a little bit of frustration around how to control [the original map] or how to read it quickly. You’d have to kind of rotate it to figure out what’s the best angle to see where your character is and where you need to go. We’ve actually simplified it rather than embellished it, to improve the clarity and the readability of it.
Speaking in the same interview, the team also revealed that Dead Space Remake will feature a New Game Plus mode. You can watch the official Dead Space Remake launch trailer here.
Dead Space Remake is slated for release on January 27, 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
