Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that PS Plus Premium subscribers will receive a Death Stranding 2: On the Beach trial from August 19, allowing you to sample up to five hours of Hideo Kojima’s PS5-exclusive title.
The trial comes as part of the format holder’s ongoing PS Plus 15th anniversary celebrations, where extra goodies are being rolled out for members. In case you missed it, the PS Plus Extra & PS Plus Premium August 2025 free games lineup was announced yesterday, so check them out here.

Death Stranding 2 is set eleven months after the original game, and takes place primarily in Australia, where Earth has bene ravaged by otherworldly beings. Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus) returns as the main character, as he ventures out with his companions to connect isolated survivors and colonies to the wireless chiral communications network in order to save humanity from being wiped out.
In addition to Reedus, Death Stranding also features a stacked cast that includes Elle Fanning, Alastair Duncan, Luca Marinelli, and Alissa Jung. Death Stranding 2 was released on June 26, 2025 and was the most-downloaded PS5 game in the US for that month, and also made the top five in the EU.
