Deep Down PS4 not canceled, says Capcom

Capcom has confirmed that the PlayStation 4-exclusive RPG Deep Down has not been canceled following a period of silence on the project.

Speaking during an interview with 4Gamer, the game’s producer, Yoshinori Ono, said that the company is planning on showing off a completely new build at some point in the future.

“It seems that Deep Down will take a little bit more time. Word on the street is that we canceled its development, but that’s not true (laughs).

Even if it may be a little further ahead, we would like to show off a completely different form from what we’ve shown before. In fact, the concept has become larger than what was first announced. Actually, the former design was probably not good.”

Deep Down was announced alongside the PS4 in February 2013, although little on the game has been shown up to this point.

Ono-san further added that the developers need to ensure the online servers are fully developed, as gamers will quickly lose interest in the game if they’re not, even if the title is fundamentally solid.
