Bungie’s latest Destiny 2 trailer highlights the chaos and mayhem expected of the newly revamped Crucible mode, but what you might not have noticed are some brief teasers on Destiny 2 exotics that punctuate the action-packed footage.
The Destiny Reddit community have been busy picking apart the new trailer since its launch yesterday afternoon, and have come up with some interesting observations. For starters, one screencap clearly depicts a Warlock kitted out in the exotic armor known as Starfire Protocol, while a Titan is strapped into the Taikonaut exotic helmet.
Bungie has yet to issue any official statement on returning exotics for Destiny 2, although these latest developments definitely seem to point to at least some of the favourites making a comeback. What we do know, however, is that you won’t be able to carry any of your gear over to the new game, so whatever exotics are returning will have to be claimed in the field.
Destiny 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, with the PC version arriving slightly later on October 24. The game picks up following the events of Rise of Iron, and sees the Tower come under attack from a deadly Cabal unit known as the Red Legion. As a result, the Guardians lose their stronghold and must set up camp in a new hub.
Bungie has promised a number of improvements for the shared-world sequel, including a more expansive open-world ripe with new side quests, plus a greater emphasis on in-game narrative complete with heaps of cutscenes.
Those of you worrying that Destiny 2 may suffer from the same content droughts as its predecessor can rest easy. Bungie has promised a ‘continuous calendar of events’ for the upcoming sequel.
