Destiny 2 Guided Games won’t help you with high-level Raids

Destiny 2 will not utilise the Guided Games feature for Heroic-level Nightfall or Raids, its game director has confirmed.

Speaking with Kotaku this week at E3 2017, Luke Smith revealed that, much like the original Destiny, gamers will have to cobble together their own fireteams to tackle the sequel’s more difficult strikes. Guided Games will, as previously mentioned, still be there to match you up with players for regular missions regardless of the difficulty.

"I don’t know exactly how the Challenge Mode layers are going to work [with Guided Games], but the normal-tier activities will be Guided Games, and the Heroics will be find-your-own,” said Smith.

Still, this is still one up on the first Destiny, as there wasn’t any type of matchmaking in place for Raids or Nightfall activities on any difficulty level. Nonetheless, if you want to collect some of Destiny 2’s most precious loot, you’re going to have to have a solid group of buddies in place to help you out.

Destiny 2 is due out for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 6, 2017. Set following the events of Rise of Iron, the first-person shooter follow-up will place greater emphasis on the narrative in Bungie’s share-world universe, with Guardians battling against a deadly Cabal unit known as The Red Legion. As a result of the attack on the Tower, all your hard-earned loot and gear has been lost, though you can still transfer your character’s cosmetic features over.

Bungie has overhauled a number of game features for Destiny 2, including the multiplayer, which now focuses on 4v4 matches as opposed to the large-scale battles of the previous game. In addition, the game’s open-world has been greatly expanded to accommodate more side quests, known here as Adventures. The PS4 version will feature timed-exclusive content, with the Destiny 2 beta due to kick off later this summer.
