Destiny 2 once again sees the return of Public Events to complement its open-world activities, only this time they’ve seen something of an overhaul in comparison to the original game.
For starters, it’s much easier to find out exactly where they’ll be happening, as Public Events can now be tracked from your map. You can also find out when these missions are about to start, as well as how much time they have left before wrapping up.
Also new to the table are Heroic Public Events, which cough up greater rewards at a higher challenge. But how do you access these tough-as-nails events? YouTuber Datto has the answer.
How do I unlock Destiny 2 Heroic Public Events?
Unlocking the Heroic modifier requires you to trigger a certain action within standard Public Events. Each of the seven known missions has a unique action that must be performed, as detailed below.
Glimmer Extraction
This event sees old enemies the Fallen farming glimmer via extractors, and requires players to eliminate four specific targets. However, the Heroic modifier unlock requires you to destroy a smaller, hidden panel that is absorbing glimmer before dispatching any of the four targets. After doing this, you will then have to guard a huge pile of the shiny blue stuff until the transmit finishes.
Ether Resupply
During this mission, target the four smaller Servitors instead of the large one. This will up the challenge however by making the huge Servitor even more powerful, which coupled with the time limit and enemy spawns, ensures you’ll have your work cut out for you.
Spider Tank
This event can be found on Titan, and sees there turn of the familiar Fallen Walker enemy. For the Heroic modifier, players need to first collect an arc charge and put them in a nearby power nod. The charges are gained by destroying one of the walker’s legs, with three dropping per leg. Once you disable the force field by using six of the arc charges, the heroic modifier will unlock.
Witches’ Ritual
The Hive Wizards will be your main target, but instead of destroying them, first eliminate the shielded crystals. You can target them by standing inside of the Hex Circles to lower the shields, allowing you to inflict damage. Once they are eliminated, a large Hive Knight will rock up and demand your attention.
Vex Construction
This event will recall specific events from the Vault of Glass, where Vex enemies will try and sacrifice themselves into the construct. You’ll need to fire up all three Vex plates in order to unlock the Heroic modifier in this mission, which will then trigger a wave of Vex reinforcements including a Hydra.
Cabal Excavation
Your primary objective here is to simply guard the mining lander. However, if you want the Heroic modifier, you’ll need to destroy the nearby Cabal Thresher ship, which will then signal more enemies, including the Excavation Valus boss.
Taken Blight
This one comes courtesy of Reddit user ShadowRock9. To unlock the Heroic modifier, you will need to step in and out of each smaller dome blights, which will give your Guardian a small buff allowing them to damage the core blight. Once you have inflicted enough damage, the Blightmaker boss will appear, who you will need to then defeat.
