PlayStation 4 sales in the U.K. have spiked a massive 300 percent following the launch of Bungie’s shared-world shooter, Destiny.
That’s according to industry insiders whispering to MCV, which states that Destiny’s launch gave Sony’s next-generation home console its biggest sales week of the year so far.
While Microsoft also posted strong sales for the Xbox One, it’s worth noting that PS4 hardware still managed to outsell its leading rival by a ratio of 2:1. PS4 was also bundled with Destiny, which obviously helped boost sales.
Elsewhere, Sony’s PS3 managed to top Xbox 360 hardware sales for the first time in a good while. Much like PS4, sales of the last-generation format were facilitated by the availability of a Destiny hardware bundle.
Activision has partnered with Sony to bring exclusive PlayStation content to Destiny for a period of 12 months.
