Destiny has nearly 13 million players

Destiny has garnered almost 13 million players since its launch in September 2014, developer Bungie has announced.

The Halo creator confirmed that approximately 12,869,066 gamers have taken part in the shared-world shooter, pumping some 872,404,449 hours into the experience.

Furthermore, over 500 developers continue to work on the project, though it wasn’t made clear how many of those are involved on the current game and its second DLC expansion, House of Wolves, and the upcoming Destiny sequel.

In terms of raid progress, the newly-launched Crota’s End has been beaten 769 times, while the Vault of Glass boss, Atheon, has been exterminated 2.4 million times to date.

Despite all these numbers being thrown around, it still isn’t known exactly how many copies Destiny has sold worldwide.
