Bungie held its latest live-stream event for Destiny earlier this week, detailing a number of the changes that will come into effect as part of the shared-world shooter’s April update. This will be the most significant update to the game since The Taken King last September.
So, just what can Guardians expect? Read on to find out some of the biggest tweaks that await players. The update itself lands on April 12.

Guardians will need to be closer to their fallen teammates in order to revive them in PvP. In addition, your fallen comrade’s shields won’t be quite as tough when revived.
INCREASED LEGENDARIES
The Crucible, which is Destiny’s dedicated PvP arena, will offer more rewards once the update goes live, increasing the chance of Guardians netting a Legendary item for their troubles.
STERLING TREASURE BOXES
This weekly offering can be obtained by competing in the Crucible and will offer at least one guaranteed item, with a possibility of up to three prizes available.
IRON BANNER CHANGES
Starting with April’s update, Legendary engrams will no longer be offered as rewards for competing in the Iron Banner. Instead, players are guaranteed a 320 artefact and ghost for Rank 3 and a chance of nabbing a 335 package for Rank 5.
TRIALS CHANGES
The update will offer Guardians the chance to acquire Level 335 gear from treasure chests, while completing Trials bounties will offer item drops up to Level 330.
LOTS OF WEAPON CHANGES
Bungie will also implement a boatload of weapon changes with the update. First up, Sniper Rifles have been tweaked to align them closer with their intended purpose as slower, long-range weapons that rewards patience. In addition, the zoom distance on the weapons have been pushed out to "shake up the usual sight lines."
Elsewhere, Hand Cannons have had their ammo capacity increased, while Auto Rifles, Fusion Rifles and Pulse Rifles will also be tweaked slightly in this area.
Perhaps the most controversial change comes with the frequency of Heavy Ammo drops; they’ll now only happen once per match, at the 5-minute mark. At the beginning of a match, Guardians will have Special Ammo with them, with refills spawning after three minutes, then every two minutes thereafter.
CLASS AND SUB-CLASS TWEAKS
Finally, the April update will also apply various tweaks to the classes and sub-classes for Guardians. One of the most significant will be for the Warlock class, which finds the frequency of their fire shield reduced. On the flip side, the Solar Wind has been increased, while the Voidwalker energy drain has been buffed.
