Destiny – how to farm exotic engrams for an easy Light Level boost

Destiny: Rise of Iron has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now, and while Bungie may have patched a few sneaky farming methods out of existence (goodbye Omnigul farm), players are still managing to poke around the far reaches of the shared-world shooter’s game world to discover new ways of increasing your Light Level as quickly as possible.

As any Destiny player will know, boosting your Light can prove an arduous and sometimes frustrating grind, especially when one is trying to reach the new Light Level cap or prepare for the new Wrath of the Machine raid. Fortunately, tenacious Guardians searching for a new farming method have uncovered a relatively trouble-free way you can farm exotic engrams to boost your Light Level.

Follow our guide below.

Destiny: Rise of Iron – exotic engram farming guide

First up, this is geared towards high-level Guardians, and requires copious use of the Three of Coins tokens. So, if you haven’t stocked up on them, be sure to grab them from Xur the next time he hits the tower.

Destiny – how to farm exotic engrams

Guardians will need to visit the planet Venus and launch the Scourge of Winter mission, which is a Level 14 story. Once you enter the mission, get through it as fast as you can and consume a Three of Coins prior to entering Draksis’ chamber. This will increase your chances of nabbing an exotic engram. While you can simply kill Draksis to have a shot at an exotic engram, there’s another trick to this farming method that can give you access to a potentially huge amount of engrams.

You’ll need a Rocket Launcher for this, so make sure it’s equipped in your Special Weapon slot. It has to be a powerful weapon too, as you’ll need it to kill your Guardian in a single hit when fired at point-blank range. Stocking up on Heavy Ammo isn’t a bad idea too.

So, you’ve reached Draksis, consumed a Three of Coins, and have your Rocket Launcher. Now, you need to reduce his health so that it’s as low as possible without actually killing him. Once this is done, run up to Draksis with your Rocket Launcher, and fire at him at point-blank range—you should kill both Draksis and yourself.

When you respawn, you should be able to collect the loot that your enemy dropped. If you’re lucky, you might have gained an exotic engram. Both you and Draksis will have respawned however, allowing you to repeat the process again. Simply chomp down on another Three of Coins and keep going; this allows you to rack up exotic engrams without too much trouble, increasing your Light Level.

Players have already reported boosting their Light Level ten points from 370 – 380 in just an hour or so by utilising this farming method. Give it a shot and let us know how it works out. Read our Destiny: Rise of Iron review.
