Bungie has officially opened the gates on Destiny’s servers, meaning those of you who were lucky enough to acquire a copy early can now start delving into the ambitious MMO-shooter.
Yep, it’s been a long time coming—over two years since the game’s details appeared online, to be precise—but the former Halo developer’s latest project is finally out in the wild, with the game ‘officially’ launching at midnight.
Destiny’s development has been punctuated by as significant amount of hype, and gamers were able to test the waters earlier this summer thanks to an alpha and beta period. Results were positive to say the least.
The IP is a long-term project too, as there have already been confirmed reports that Destiny will receive a number of sequels. Furthermore, PlayStation 4 owners will be able to enjoy exclusive content in the shape of the Dust Palace Strike, for approximately 12 months.
In terms of retail releases, Destiny has received a Ghost and Limited Edition alongside the standard retail and digital copies, the former of which includes a motion-activated Ghost replica. Needless to say, they sold out rather sharpish.
The PS4 release will be supplemented by a day-one patch, which weighs in at nearly 300MB.
