Bungie has confirmed return dates for Destiny’s hard-as-nails PvP challenges in the shape of Iron Banner and the Trials of Osiris.
First up, Iron Banner will be making a long-awaited comeback on October 13, followed by the Trials of Osiris—which made its debut with Expansion Two: The House of Wolves—on October 16.
Iron Banner is a Crucible event where your stats make all the difference, meaning that those who have weapons with a higher attack rating and a Guardian sporting a high Light Level will be able to dish out considerably more damage than a lower-levelled character. You have to be Level 40 to access Iron Banner, or at least have a Guardian who is Level 40 in your fireteam. Bungie recommends a Light Level of 230 as a minimum for entering the event.
As always, Lord Saladin is available to purchase new gear from in the tower, although like many of the consumables available since The Taken King dropped, he now only accepts Legendary Marks. Furthermore, Iron Banner’s primary reward system is now focused on post-match loot drops, and have such been increased accordingly. Rewards include weapons, armor and emblems. Saladin also offers bounties like before, although this time he also gives you the chance to earn Legendary Marks via three special bounties.
The Trials of Osiris meanwhile is another PvP event that takes into account your stats, and can be located on the Reef. You’ll need a Passage Coin to enter the tournament, which requires a pre-set fireteam of three to participate. The difference here is that if your team is defeated, it’s game over; those who remain undefeated will keep playing until they score nine consecutive wins, after which they’ll be invited to a the Lighthouse social area. Bungie recommends a minimum Light Level of 290 for the Trials of Osiris, and your fireteam leader must be 251 or higher.
In terms of rewards, armor and weapons will now drop at the end of a match, rather than being sold by Brother Vance. However, the vendor will offer bounties allowing you to acquire Trial rewards if you can’t manage to rake in a massive win streak, as well as various buffs to facilitate your progress. Naturally, the more wins you have in your passage, the better your rewards will be.
